Horizontal foundation waterproofing

Horizontal waterproofing of foundations is prectection against capillary moisture. Waterproofing prevents infiltration of water from substrate into structure. Horizontal waterproofing is most often applied between floor slab and wall or – in new buildings – between wall and slab above basement with bitumen tape or membrane. Horizontal waterproofing was not usually provided in older buildings, but it can be applied later. Various methods of horizontal waterproofing can be applied depending on structure and extent of infiltration, e.g. injection, including pressure injection.
